Skipped content type syndication on site

I had an issue where content types were not being updated on a farm that was consuming the Managed Metadata Service from a remote farm. No errors were being thrown in the trace logs, so I increased logging for taxonomy to verbose and saw this error when content type syndication was running: Skipped content type syndication on site http://sharepoint for proxy 9019dc1a-63c4-4ead-8aa5-3cca6fe852eb To resolve this issue, go to the manage service applications screen on the consuming farm. select the connection to your remote managed metadata service application and select properties. Select the checkbox that says "Consumes content types from the Content Type Gallery at http://contenttypehub

After selecting this checkbox you should be able to consume content types assuming that the rest of your configuration is correct
